St. Luke's Medical Center - Global City Partners with Six Sigma PH as Part of SLMC's 114th Anniversary
TAGUIG CITY, Philippines - October 19, SLMC (St. Luke's Medical Center) conducts their weeklong celebration for their 114th Anniversary. As part of this celebration, SLMC- GC partners with Six Sigma PH to produce twenty outstanding Six Sigma projects. Along the way, the Philippines also gained two new Certified Six Sigma Black Belts.
All twenty projects along with several other process improvement projects, were recognized for their outstanding results. Clustered per category, project members were awarded with 3rd, 2nd, and 1st places with cash prices!
According to Rex Tuozo “The Six Sigma Guy”, there are three critical elements that companies must possess if they will undergo Six Sigma: First, The Leadership, about how one leads the program and make sure that everyone do not just attend the program but properly use what each have learned; The Culture, Wherein both the leaders and the people are open for change, are willing to change, and willing to share their insights on how to improve processes; The Portfolio Manager: There must be at least 1 person accountable in managing the portfolio of process improvement projects - this person keeps track of every project, identify which is moving, which are struggling, and help them in pushing projects forward to completion; And lastly, The Trainer: to make Six Sigma as simple and practical as possible to make if effective. The Six Sigma Guy believes that if we will be able to translate something complicated to something that is practical and everyone can digest, then the final output will be a culture of change and innovation.
With all these elements present, combined with continuous collaboration between SLMC-GC and Six Sigma PH's consultants, all SLMC-GC project members were able to complete their project with flying colors.
For the latter parts of the event, a surprise Black Belt certification was awarded to two of SLMC-GC's exemplary members: Ms. Lala & Ms. Hershey. Arthur Flores Jr., One of Six Sigma PH's consultants, also delivered a short talk on project sustainability - signaling that these event and the results celebrated are not the end of their journey.
