Exposing The Truth about Six Sigma Training and the Value Triangle

Exposing The Truth about Six Sigma Training and the Value Triangle

Do you know about the value triangle? It's a simple concept. There are three factors: cost, quality, and speed. The catch is that you can only prioritize two of them.

You'll have to wait if you want low cost and good quality. It won't be the best quality if you want something fast and cheap. And if you need the very best right away, be prepared to pay a high price.

Six Sigma training programs follow the same model. If you are exploring attending a Lean Six Sigma training, check which two between cost, quality, and speed you value most. If a Six Sigma training provider promises all three, be cautious; as the value triangle states, that is impossible.

Example 1 (All 3 are present?): a hypothetical company offering Lean Six Sigma recorded programs:
1. +Cost (Cheap): the company could advertise its rates as expensive, but in reality, it always offers at least 70% off".
2. +Speed (fast): Since it offers recorded learning programs, students can immediately start the course.
3. -Quality ('high'?): the company could advertise that it offers high-quality programs, something like its Green Belt training is better than the Black Belt of its competitors. This needs to be corrected. Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools are facilitation tools. One needs to practice communication and facilitation skills with other participants to acquire a minimum level of competency to be certified. One cannot be certified Green and Black Belt by merely watching recorded videos. The real Quality of this business model is low-quality.

The truth exposed: Using the value model above, this six sigma training company offering recorded training programs offers cheap prices and fast delivery (since students can immediately start the program). The model categorized this company as LOW QUALITY.

Example 2 (High Quality & Fast): Six Sigma PH offers high-quality instructor-led Lean Six Sigma training programs with training curriculums re-designed for the Service Industry.
1. -Cost (expensive): Some might find Six Sigma PH's learning fees high, but we are confident that we deliver the highest-quality Lean Six Sigma training in the Philippines.
2. +Speed (fast): Since we offer our Lean Six Sigma Yellow, and Green Belt courses monthly, students need not wait too long to find a schedule to attend.
3. +Quality (high): Six Sigma PH teaches its battle-tested methodology known as the Six Sigma Circuit (TM), a set of Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques, if done correctly could quickly complete process improvement projects and could save at least three months of project management time. The training design methodology used is "gamified experiential and reflective learning," The goal is for participants to practice facilitation skills of the tools in class. After the training, all participants are matched with a Green or Black Belt mentor whom they are coached until they are certified. All Six Sigma PH alumni enjoy lifelong community support and network with their fellow alumni.

Planning to attend a Six Sigma training soon? What do you value most: expensive, slow, or low quality? Please carefully decide, especially if you will spend your hard-earned money on this learning investment.
