MAKATI CITY, Philippines - From Harte Hanks, Peejay Concepcion, Quality Supervisor, earned his Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification last August 26, 2016, the last day of Lean Six Sigma PH's 18th Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Program for Service Industry.

"…my advice is for you to follow the pre and post-Lean Lean Six Sigma workout because that's exactly your storyboard. What you did here, that's what you should be putting on your PowerPoint presentation. So everything that you learned here is your storyboard…” - Peejay

Peejay shared what catalyzed him to conduct his project; how much was the need for it, and how he was able to complete one with such a tremendous financial impact on the company. He imparted some tips to the graduating class about how the Lean Six Sigma training, tools, and methodologies can and will be of great use to them for the benefit of their respective companies; Inspiring the Green Belt class to complete their projects and get certified.

To be certified in Lean Six Sigma, one has to complete an actual Lean Six Sigma project and apply process improvement tools, methodology, and techniques learned in class. "That's one reason why companies give high value to Certified Lean Six Sigma individuals. One does not just attend a program and receive his certification but has to successfully apply and show proper use of tools and methodology with actual work processes. One has to earn his Lean Six Sigma certification," Tuozo said. "If you attend our Lean Six Sigma programs, unlike other training providers, you get continuous support after the program, for no additional cost. You'll be assigned a Black Belt to help you complete your project," Tuozo added.

The project that got Peejay certified is a defect deduction project. The Project is geared towards a countermeasure against invalid tickets that they generate, which are hurting the company. By utilizing Lean Six Sigma, Peejay and his team were able to reduce their defect rate from 34% to 5%; with a financial impact of at least ₱16 million pesos which made his sponsor impressed and elated.

“...when I started my project, my goal was to reduce defects from 34% to 30%, hindi naman ako ambisyosa (I'm not ambitious). After using Lean Six Sigma and implementing the project's action items, it went down significantly to 5%," Peejay added.

Peejay ended his testimonial speech by reminding the current class how the Lean Six Sigma can be utilized in their own companies, saying: “It's really not important if you put there a different Project, there are many opportunities that we can use the lean six sigma. The role of Lean Six Sigma is to improve processes, so if you go to a company, there's already a process, you just need to improve it."
